Dogs are one of the most faithful creatures who can shower you with unconditional love. They're not just faithful to, but also protective of the families they live in.
A German Shepherd recently saved its owner from being robbed and nearly lost his life in the process. According to Mail Online, the incident occurred in South Africa when Gino Wensel went out for a walk with his dog, Duke.
However, a few minutes later, he noticed a man approaching him with a knife in his hand. When Duke saw the robber, he immediately began growling at him. The robber stabbed Duke in the head to stop it, seriously injuring it.
Duke, on the other hand, refused to back down and continued barking at the robber, scaring him away before collapsing in a pool of blood. Wensel thought he'd lost his dog until he noticed the warrior was still alive.
He drove Duke to the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa (AWSSA) with the help of his friend. Miraculously, the blade of the knife missed Duke’s brain by millimetres and the vet at the clinic saved him. The doctor didn’t charge anything for Duke’s treatment because Wensel was unemployed and had very little money.
"Their bond is so special, and to be able to save Duke and give him back to Gino was just wonderful," said the hospital's doctors.
